About

Our Club

Since 1980

Broomfield Netball Club was formed in the 1980s by Iris Morhall, a local netball coach. In the mid 1990s, local businessman, Graham Staples of Brookshaw Stuart Ltd (Process Plant Engineers, based in Chelmsford), offered to sponsor the Club so it was decided to change the club name to Brookshaw Stuart Netball Club.

Brookshaw Stuart Ltd is still operational today but no longer sponsors the Club. We currently take girls from year 3 up to year 11 and play in the Chelmsford & District Junior Netball league. We act as a feeder club to our senior club. At the age of 14, we encourage girls to begin playing in the senior league, with a view to continuing their netball journey after leaving the junior club.

The club have held some Masterclass Training sessions with England & Superleague Players, the girls have benefitted from specialist training which in turn improves their own performances on court. So far we have had Surrey storm player and current Saracens Mavericks assistant head coach Becky Trippick, Michelle Drayne form Northern Ireland international, England Goal Shooter Jo Harten & Herts Mavericks, London Pulse former GK Lindsay Keable with many more to come.

We are part of the East Region of England Netball, particularly East Essex. We have our own committee which meets regularly to discuss coaching, kit, safeguarding, fees etc. We therefore have official roles to fulfil such as Chair, treasurer, secretary etc who all tend to be members of the coaching team.
